Our client, a leading main contractor with a current turnover of approximately £22m and projected turnover of £50m by 2025, is seeking a strong and experienced Assistant/Intermediate Quantity Surveyor with a good understanding of design and build project delivery to join their team on a permanent basis. Based at the head office in Barnet, the successful candidate will be required on occasion to travel to a new build (D&B) project in Winchester.
With a diverse range of clients including local authorities and high net worth individuals, our client has established a reputation for delivering high-quality specialist refurbishment, traditional construction, commercial and residential fit out, and new build projects, ranging in value from £500k to £20m.
The ideal candidate will have 1-4 years of experience as an Assistant/Intermediate Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor or specialist subcontractor working on similar projects, and a strong understanding of the Design and Build (D&B) process, procurement methods, construction techniques, and contract administration. They should also have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
This role is suitable for candidates with ambition, looking to step into senior roles or pursue a chartership membership (RICS/APC).

Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation of cost plans, budgets, and estimates for construction projects.
Assist with the procurement of materials and subcontractors.
Monitor and control costs throughout the project lifecycle.
Assist with the preparation and management of subcontractor and supplier contracts.
Assist with the preparation and submission of progress claims and variation orders.
Assist with the management and negotiation of final accounts.
Provide support to the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and reports.
Assist with the management of project risks and opportunities.
Provide advice and guidance on construction cost and contractual matters to project teams and clients.
Key Requirements:
Educated to BSc or MSc surveying or equivalent.
Experience in writing specifications and completing all subsequent contract administration during construction.
Measure and prepare Package Bills and Scope of Works.
A team player with excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
Excellent Presentation and communication skills.
Clean Drivers License.
