Spotlight on East Lothian District Nursing Evening Service
The practice population of East Lothian is 103,000 (2015) and in the 2015 census East Lothian was identified as the area in Scotland that is expected to have the largest growth of over 65yr olds in the next 25 years. The area covers 15 GP practices. The District Nursing service visits people over the age of 16 who are unable to access GP/nursing services in the GP practice.
The post is based within our Evening service which covers all East Lothian from 1630hrs until 0020hrs. The Evening service have an office within the new East Lothian Community Hospital in Haddington. The service works closely with the Out of Hours teams within East Lothian , although some of the visits will be scheduled the majority of the visits are reactive and are received via Out of Hours .
The role involves caring for clients in their own homes or in the GP practice to provide high quality, safe and effective nursing care.

Band 5 Community Staff Nurse Salary
Band 5 Range £30,229 – £37,664 (pro rata) per annum Benefits

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
