Group Legal Director
Hybrid role with presence at our offices in Nottingham, Wakefield, and Manchester (with occasional travel to our businesses in Ireland and Germany as needed)
Team17 Group plc has gone through rapid growth particularly since IPO in 2018, but also over it’s 30 years history. We are now a Group of businesses based across 3 countries with 5 hub locations, 3 in the UK. Revenues in 2022 were £137m with adjusted EBITDA of £48m. The Group team operates under a hybrid model, mostly remotely, but with time in our offices. The overall growth strategy is to combine organic growth with selected M&A.
What You'll Be Working On as a Group Legal Director
With the historical growth and complexity of being an international group and with ongoing M&A as a core part of the growth strategy, Team17 now have an exciting opportunity for a Group Legal Director to play a key role to support the CFO/CEO and the leadership teams of the businesses. We are flexible on location; however, we expect this role to operate from our UK offices (Nottingham/Manchester/Wakefield) on a regular basis with less regular visits to Dublin and Dusseldorf as required. This role will be a pivotal member within the group team and integral to the commercial operations of the business teams.
In addition to core legal responsibilities the preference (though not essential) is for the individual to lead on Company Secretarial responsibilities for the company. This exciting role within a unique industry will provide the successful individual the opportunity to influence and lead a critical element of our growing business taking us to the next level of our strategic growth plans.
Your Day-To-Day
Group
Oversee the legal affairs of the group, providing leadership by identifying priorities to address and providing solutions on how to address them. Provide legal guidance on relevant legal matters e.g. contracts, intellectual property, compliance, governance, privacy, employment matters. Draft, review and negotiate contracts and other legal documents and agreements. Partner with external specialists where complexity or degree of specialism is high. Identify cost effective and robust ways to deal with volume issues e.g. contracts. Identifying and delivering (directly or indirectly) legal training needed across the business. Act as a key member of the broader Group team partnering with peers on joint projects. Company Secretarial
Support the Board with advice and resources to ensure fiduciary responsibilities are appropriately met. Ensure the effective organisation and running of Board and Committee meetings from scheduling all the way through to minutes. Operational responsibilities as required relating to company secretarial matters e.g. in relation to share schemes Provide support to the preparation of the Annual Report Provide up to date guidance on developments in corporate governance. Support to NEDs from onboarding through day-to-day needs What You'll Need
The role will be a standalone role, working with internal teams and external partners. From time to time, you will partner with external experts where needed due to complexity or specialism. It will suit someone who positively enjoys rolling their sleeves up in a day-to-day commercial environment as well as being involved in group-wide matters. A commercially savvy specialist comfortable working at a fast pace and building a network of strong relationships across the group.
