An opportunity to lead and implement public affairs strategies and external engagement for the Association of Renewable Energy and Clean Technology (REA)'s ambitious work on Biomass and Bioenergy. You'll be supporting the UK's transition to a greener energy system, and helping shape business strategy in response to the ever changing external political and renewable energy policy landscape.
The role is responsible for leading the REA's joined entity, Biomass UK, covering political and media campaigns, gathering a detailed understanding of the emerging policy landscape and identifying the strategic implications, reporting this into the wider policy team whilst managing the work of Biomass UK as a whole.
The role holder will also build strong stakeholder relationships, representing Biomass UK with politicians, Government officials, the media and in external forums.
Reporting to the Director and Deputy Director of Policy, this role supports the organisation's public affairs engagement and corporate communications strategy, shaping Biomass UK's reputation with a variety of political and stakeholder audiences as a purposeful organisation that delivers progress for bioresources as a significant source of renewable energy.
Main Accountabilities:
Lead and implement public affairs and engagement strategies to support the delivery of the biomass and bioenergy technologies in renewable energy in the UK Build relationships with key external stakeholders to support business objectives Gain political insights and wider thought leadership on Biomass to develop campaigns and reputation management, as well as provide guidance into the wider REA Lead stakeholder meetings and select committees, including the membership Ensure effective political monitoring to identify opportunities for engagement and networking based on key issues and business objectives Build strong relationships with all colleagues across the business, including senior leaders and the CEO to support external engagement and decision making Line management of one junior analyst Key Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
Substantial experience working in a public affairs, political or relevant civil service role in energy or environmental policy, with a specific understanding for renewable energy - Biomass/bioenergy highly desirable Good knowledge of the workings UK Government and devolved nations decision making Ability to take ownership of a small function and work collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment Experience of line management Evidence of strategic planning - defining business strategies and business models, clearly defining objectives Should you be based in London, this will be a hybrid role with 3 days in the office.
