The Role:Advanced Innovative Engineering seeks a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Lichfield. The Engineer will have a strong mechanical engineering, product design, and development background and can take on challenging engineering activities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and innovative team committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible with the Rotary Engine, particularly in the aerospace industry.The Mechanical Engineer will be expected to perform the following duties:Responsibilities:Design and develop propulsion systems, components, and subassemblies for aerospace applications using Wankel Rotary Engine and related technologiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the design meets customer and regulatory requirementsCreate detailed engineering drawings and specifications, and perform complex calculations to ensure design feasibility and complianceSupport manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure a smooth product build and testStay current with industry trends and advancements to bring new ideas and technologies to the teamAbility to perform route cause analysis to determine appropriate design action requiredProvide Design status and Design Review documentationExperience and Qualification Summary:Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the aerospace industryBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related fieldStrong knowledge of mechanical design principles, including stress analysis, thermodynamics, and materials scienceProficient in CAD software (such as SolidWorks) and simulation tools (such as FEA and CFD)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creativelyExcellent communication and teamwork skillsExperience with aerospace regulations and standards is preferredUnderstanding of engines (rotating components) in a dynamic environment.Personal attributes:Work well within a small team and can flex to meet Business demand Team player with a 'can-do' attitudeDisciplined, with meticulous record keeping Clear and succinct verbal and written communicationAbility to research (a subject) and apply knowledge gained to design and analysis related activitiesThe person:Self-motivated with an ability to see what needs doing and do it right. You must be good at problem-solving.Hours and Environment:Thirty-eight hours a week, Monday to Thursday, 8.30 am to 5.30 pm (30-minute lunch), Friday, 8.30 am to 12.30 pm. 21 days plus statutory bank holidaysRemuneration:The salary for this post will be commensurate with the capabilities and qualifications of the candidate.
