PROTEC CAMERFIELDPOST TITLE: Mechanical Sprinkler / Water Mist Project ManagerSALARY: Dependent on experience and locationHOURS: 40 hours per weekLOCATION: Flexible - ideally North West and LondonRESPONSIBLE TO: Contracts ManagerPurpose of the postProtec Camerfield require a self-motivated individual who can manage all aspects of mechanical sprinkler or water mist suppression systems. The role requires a pro-active and pragmatic individual who can work alone and part of a team to collaborate with all relevant contributors for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the systems with excellent communication and quality results to our customers. The project manager will have direct involvement from pre-order through to final account and warranty period.This is an opportunity to join a growing diverse team within an expanding sector of the fire industry. Current and forthcoming projects cover public and private sectors; including custodial, healthcare, hotels, retail and residential; and range in value from £10k to £5M. Projects are located nationwide and a degree of flexibility in working location may be required. Protec cover all travel and accommodation expenses. Training, further qualifications and bonus scheme will be offered to the successful candidate.ResponsibilitiesTo expertly handle sprinkler or water mist installation contracts from initial enquiry through to final accounts.Assume full financial control of projects, delivering the works efficiently and profitably, including responsibility for raising purchase and subcontract orders.Effectively manage the installation work on site; attending regular client meetings; having responsibility for health and safety; producing progress updates and reports; and completion of project quality assurance checks.Prepare and communicate detailed programmes of work to ensure deadlines and contract requirements are met.Liaise with suppliers, design, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and information flow, and accurately report to clients, contractors and governing bodies as necessary.Negotiate, monitor, and produce quotations for contract variations.Highlight possible problem areas at the earliest opportunity and obtain commercial advice where necessary.Prepare technical reports and submittals including operating and maintenance manuals and handover documents, by collating and presenting relevant information.Identify and report deviations or nonconformities from scope, Standards or contract.Ability to travel within the UK, and visit European suppliers as necessary for the role.Any other duties commensurate with the role.QualificationsGCSE in Maths and EnglishMechanical engineering qualificationNVQ Level 6 in Construction ManagementCSCS Construction Skills CardHealth and Safety Qualification, IOSH, SMSTS, etc.ExperienceExperience of construction project engineering or managementExperience within sprinkler or water mist suppression project engineering or managementKnowledge of current relevant suppression British Standards and Regulations, including LPC 12845, BS 8489, BS 9251, NFPA, FM GlobalKnowledge of sprinkler or water mist equipment and installationSkills/AbilitiesAbility to manage client and management expectationsAbility to confidently deal with difficult and stressful situationsExcellent oral and written communication skillsCompetent using Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and PowerPointA keen eye for detailProven track record of project financial controlThe ability to maintain accurate recordsExcellent time management skills and ability to prioritise workloadRead and understand engineering drawings, layouts, and plansAbility to communicate effectively with staff at varying levels throughout the company and externallyGood interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a teamAbility to supervise and lead a team to produce desired project deliverablesReporting and analysing project KPIs and CTCs to managementOther Commitment to confidentiality and data protectionAble to complete minimum Disclosure and Barring Service ( DBS ) check upon successful appointmentEnthusiasm, willingness to learn and “can do” attitudeA full and valid driving licenceFlexible approach to working hours
