From time to time, a criminal case ends with a wrongful conviction or sentence � there may have been errors at trial � or fresh evidence may have emerged. Sometimes there are developments in the law that require matters to be reassessed in the light of modern standards of fairness.�
To support the CCRC to deliver, the HR team provides a complete in-house service to all staff. We are a small, but dynamic team, working on a varied and busy portfolio. This includes all Employee Relations, Recruitment, Learning and Development, Pay & Pensions, and Staff Wellbeing.
We are looking for an experienced Payroll & HR Systems Officer to join our HR team.
You will be responsible for supporting the development and ongoing roll out of our HR system, iTrent, including further development to the systems capabilities and the availability of the data reporting that the business needs. You will also be an expert in pay related matters, ideally including pensions. Our payroll function is outsourced, however it will be your role to ensure that all staff are paid correctly each month, submitting the relevant pay data to our provider and providing pay related advice to both staff and managers.
Our ideal candidate will have recent experience of working within a public sector HR or Payroll or Pensions team and will be confident in using a large HR system for a range of activities.

Job description
Payroll:
Act as first point of contact for all payroll queries for both the Commission and the outsourced payroll service.Monthly payroll validation checking, such as variance checks, validating absence warnings and peer to peer checking. Responding to all queries in a timely manner.Monthly payroll processing, such as annual leave, overpayments, overtime claims, reward and recognition awards, corrections, advance payments and processing all corrections / adjustments from prior month.Send new starter checklist/P45s, court orders etc. to our third-party payroll provider.Liaise with external stakeholders on behalf of customers to ensure appropriate payroll activity can be completed, including other Government departments, HMRC, MyCSP (Civil Service pensions administrator)Production of information including: Data for use in the annual pay review and issue of letters to staffMonitoring and reporting on sick absence opportunities monitoring turnover.Monthly monitoring and reporting of pay and pension information.Pensions:
Checking and validating pension records. Including pension administration for the Civil Service pension schemes and broadly by-analogy (BBA) scheme.Complete the monthly pensions interface file to be provided to the Civil Service pension scheme administrators (currently MyCSP)Complete the Annual Assurance Statement for approval by the Commission�s Accounting OfficerRe-enrol any relevant people who have opted out of the pension scheme into the pension scheme at the appropriate anniversary of the Commission�s Staging Date for Automatic Enrolment, complete and send the appropriate paperwork to the Pensions Regulator and deal with any further opt-outs.Attend meetings held by Civil Service Pensions and be the first port of call within the Commission for queries relating to any of the pension schemes offered.HR System:

Essential
Lead: Previous experience of working in a public sector HR / Payroll / Pensions Team.Experience of providing advice and support to staff and managers, explaining complex matters, with sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality.Attention to detail and ability to deal with ambiguity.Be able to investigate possible solutions where the answer is not clear, showing perseverance and resilience when faced with obstacles.Communicate clearly and concisely in writing, taking into account the knowledge of the audience.Previous experience of administering a HR system, including data extraction and producing management information using Microsoft excel, to include the use of formulas.Level 3 Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) qualification or equivalent experience.Desirable:
