The Safety Performance Toolpusher (SPTP) primary purpose to improve operational performance whilst ensuring safety is not compromised.
SPTP JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The SPTP’s primary role is to ensure all tasks are carried out efficiently and safely. This includes offline as well as online operations and is not limited to drilling operations. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Ownership and preparation of the task-based AARs
• Think ahead to i) next week and ii) next month to highlight tasks that require special attention, operations that have not been completed before, use of new equipment, rig moves, equipment upgrades, large maintenance scopes.
• Provide input to the lookahead, ensure timings are tracked accurately against the Daily Drilling Report (DDR) including Invisible Lost Time (ILT) and Non-Productive Time (NPT), and that the forward plan and targets are accurate and achievable. Daily review and input to the plan required with the DSV.
• Prepare storyboards for key operations.
• Review, comment and input to all Operations Plan
• Work with third parties to refine Operations Plans and help them work with the rig crew as one team.
• Share good performance news – prepare a weekly slide to put on TVs in communal areas, documenting successes.
• Provide input into the Lessons Learned spreadsheet.
• Consistency of routine operations across all crews.
• Valaris operations planning, assisting the TP to make sure work is planned thoroughly.
• Act as a safety leader ensuring the ongoing identification of hazards and the implementation of controls to manage the associated risks.
• Be actively involved in the Field Verification, PSO and PSI systems.
• Act as a focal point for suggestions / opportunities for improvement
• Ensure lift plans are completed well in advance whenever one may be required. Poor lift planning can have an effect on operations and the rigs safety performance.
• Review Lessons Learned across all Valaris units, ensuring any relevant lessons are captured well in advance to enhance operational and safety performance.
• Act as focal point on the rig for all continuous improvement initiatives. Hold sessions to address flat spot times. Ensure lessons from previous operations are implemented, improvement suggestions captured and a new target time for the operation agreed and tracked against. Lessons should be captured in a lesson learned register and discussed with the DSV for incorporation into future work instructions where applicable.
• On occasion the SPTP may have to cover the TP for operational and supervisory reasons, but this should be by exception, not the norm.
Daily Requirements
Morning call - The SPTP will be required to give a brief overview of any activities achieved in the previous hrs and a more detailed overview of upcoming activities (not PM’s, cleaning etc.) Focus on performance improvements. Daily HE vendor meeting – The SPTP is to attend the morning vendor meeting and assist with any specific requirements for the upcoming hrs. In liaison with DSV, co-ordinate utilisation of resources (scaffolders, welders etc.) to give structure to their task lists. Review lookahead – accuracy of timings for operations further out and plan accordingly. Ideally for the next well, schedule in maintenance, BOP scopes, vendor scopes etc to optimise critical path.
Weekly Requirements Preparation of Task-Based AARs Own the AAR process, identifying equipment, procedural or safety improvements and lead the performance and planning discussions at meetings. Organise pre- and post-job and AAR meetings. Record, track and ensure closure of lessons learned, improvement opportunities
Weekly Performance Meeting – Hold weekly meetings with key offshore and onshore personal to discuss learning from the last week and upcoming opportunities for improvements. This will include maintenance opportunities to be conducted offline to minimize impact of critical path operations.
New Technology / Improvements – Identify and propose new technologies and/or equipment that would improve safety and/or efficiency. Highlight operations that are known to be challenging to prompt improvement suggestions from others.
SPTP Inter Rig Meeting - Attend and participate in the meeting between the rigs with the primary focus to improve safety and performance.
Monthly Requirements Monthly HSE Meeting - Participate in monthly meeting, with emphasis on upcoming operations..
COMMUNICATIONS The SPTP is required to communicate any potential safety or operational issues to the OIM and DSV as early as possible so alternative plans can be made. Be the primary interface between client, Valaris department heads and third-party service providers in pre-planning operational activities, with the aim of improving efficiency and safety through improved communication between all involved parties to minimize impact on the operational critical path.
