One Hatfield Hospital has a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Pre Assessment Nurse to come and join our friendly team on a Bank Contract.
Job Responsibilities:
As a Pre Assessment Nurse (Flexi Bank) your day to day responsibilities will be:
- To provide a high quality, safe service to patients in line with national standards
- To provide a high standard of individualised patient care as part of the clinical team.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance in line with national best practice standards.

Experience
- Clinical nursing experience in acute surgical care and preferably experience in pre assessment clinics.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
Skills
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills in the nurse's area of clinical practice, including phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs, epidurals and intravenous antibiotics
- Sound written, numerical and verbal communication skills
- Sound computer skills using MS Office Suite and web based reporting systems
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business
- Demonstrated customer service skills
Desirables
- Pre Assessment experience.
- Enthusiasm for cross functional working such as ambulatory care.
- Experience in the private sector
Main responsibilities & duties of the role
- Provide pre assessment care, assessing the needs of the patient, planning, implementing and evaluating pathways of care to facilitate safe surgical journey for the patient.
- Liaise with relevant MDT members to facilitate assessment and investigations.
- Identify patient care requirements by establishing a rapport, providing emotional and psychological support to the patient as well as to their family/carer
- Provide healthcare advice, educating patients/family/carers on the condition, medications, self-care and health maintenance, answering any questions they may have
- Carry out clinical nursing procedures, including phlebotomy, training patients in relation to administering medication, injections ( Enoxaparin)
- Record and maintain accurate patient medical records and histories on the relevant IT systems
- Resolve patient issues and needs, and create customised care plans through working collaboratively with other departments
- Discharge planning as part of pre assessment process.
- Participate in audit processes for monitoring nursing quality
- Assist with establishing and monitoring care pathways, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, making or recommending necessary adjustments
- Report incidents and complaints via the correct channels
- Maintain nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies and working with Procurement to ensure requirements are
