Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
Role responsibilities:
·Design Reviews with team with reference to all feasibility & suggestions for alternate solutions.
·TVM / VAVE idea generation and benchmarking.
·Reviewing the technical solutions/technical documents (fit & finish, Tolerance stackup, supplier RFQs or SORs before customer review
·Support team during Customer Design reviews.
·Provide technical support to team (Deriving multiple concepts, support debating concepts and finalizing best concept, technical alignment with FG, PQ, Manf, Suppliers)
·Create and author design guides to assist in creating Best Practices / lessons.
·Support and/or define best working practise within engineering group.
·Support throughout various program phases other disciplines in the engineering team, on an as needed basis. Prioritisation, roadblock identification and mitigation. Ensuring timelines are met.
·Execution of Vehicle development plan, Issue management targets, cost reduction targets, and maintenance of D&D, VTC, and project-based requirement tracking and gateway reporting.
·DFMEA reviews (boundary diagrams, failure modes, RPN definition, effects and unmitigated risks and actions, monitoring DFMEA actions)
·DVP review and alignment to DFMEA items. Ensuring correct specs, testing procedures and testing compliance.
·Mentor and help PE & DE’s represent the Interior function group for your module / Issues / Ideas at vehicle design review.
·Customer meeting related to technical concept finalisation/demonstration (virtual & F2F)-SME to inline with project team with right technical backups/study/benchmark analysis.
·Peer review to ensure the team meets the technical quality of data been delivered to the customer milestones.
·Identify DVP (modifications), Safety validation impact (physical/ FEA) on changes of part geometry, material, finish or any other aspects intending BOM cost reduction.
·Suggest/Support any possible impact of “End Customer Review”, Colours & Materials validation, Proof of concept requirements, Proto tooling requirements due to BOM save idea implementation.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
·Broad technical knowledge and experience of high and medium volume production technologies.
·Expertise in Interior modules / trims design knowledge.
·Appropriate level of expertise in relevant technologies – Injection moulding’s, mechanism design, light weight composites, wood fibre substrates, leather wrapping etc. Excellent feasibility assessment of design proposals, including design for manufacture and DFMEA’s
·Ability to independently analyse and overcome technical challenges with workable and innovative engineering solutions.
·High proficiency in the definition and application of GD & T.
·Specific knowledge of Legislative and automotive design constraints for interior systems preferred.
·PC literate and at ease with MS Office products.
·A high level of technical knowledge & experience of vehicle component, system design, development, manufacturing and testing
·Previous Managerial experience working in OEM or tier one supplier with whole product life cycle.
·Component & system design within an APQP or similar framework including FMEA, DVP, component planning and PPAP
·Previous VAVE/TVM/Cost Management experience is highly appreciated.
·Knowledge of Fault Finding and Root Cause Analysis.
·Working knowledge of SAP, PLM tools.
