A Special Secondary School in Redbridge, are committed to providing exceptional support and education to students with complex needs and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). They are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistants to join in making a positive difference in the lives of our students.
Role Overview:
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with secondary school-aged students with complex needs and PMLD, providing practical and emotional support to enable their participation and engagement in learning activities. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the holistic development and wellbeing of vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to secondary school-aged students with complex needs and PMLD, both within the classroom and in other school settings.
* Assist with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support, as required.
* Support students in accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning activities, adapting materials and resources to meet individual needs.
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement individualized learning plans and interventions.
* Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their independence, confidence, and social skills development.
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with colleagues and parents/carers as required.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with secondary school-aged students with complex needs and PMLD is desirable but not essential.
* A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine passion for supporting the learning and wellbeing of vulnerable young people.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and families.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to meet the diverse needs of students.
* Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undergo this process).
