We are now recruiting for a Senior Temporary Works Coordinator to join us on our major project located near Newbury.
Purpose and Scope:
The Senior temporary Works coordinator shall act as the companies subject matter expert on BS5975- Code of practice for temporary works procedures and the permissible stress design of falsework. Overall accountability for developing and maintaining procedures to ensure compliance with BS5975.
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring that all temporary works are adequately classified, controlled and implemented on the site.
Ensure that a satisfactory Temporary Works design is carried out, that appropriate design checks are completed and that the design has been approved.
Organisation of stakeholder meetings for all involved parties to ensure relevant preconstruction information is obtained.
Ensure a robust client brief with adequate preconstruction information to allow the design team to commence activities.
Where appropriate, ensuring that the Temporary Works design is made available to other interested parties.
Appoint Temporary Work Supervisors (TWS) and ensure they are suitably qualified and experienced to perform the role.
Ensuring that the various responsibilities have been allocated and accepted by the relevant parties (TWS and Construction team etc.)
Ensure that all temporary works designs are constructed following relevant drawings and specifications.
Ensuring that those responsible for constructing the Temporary Works receive full details of the design, including any limitations and guidance notes associated with it.
Ensure permits to Proceed, Load and Dismantle are issued ensuring that all appropriate steps have been taken to ensure the stability of the temporary structure.
Ensuring that any proposed changes in materials or construction are checked against the original design and appropriate documents revised.
Periodic checks confirming that the temporary works have not been altered since being constructed on site and then before loading.
Ensuring that any maintenance and inspection requirements of the Temporary Works have been defined and are completed as per designs.
Maintaining all records relating to the final design of the Temporary Works including drawings, calculations and other relevant documents.
Requirements:
This is a senior level position which requires the following:
Ideally educated to degree or higher level typically Civil, Structural, Engineering, or similar discipline
HND-HNC or equivalent level Qualification in Mechanical, Civil, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Qualification
Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer or similar
Membership of an appropriate professional institution
CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or equivalent.
NEBOSH Construction / General Certificate.
First Aid at Work qualification.
Experience/ Knowledge:
Proven practical experience in a temporary works coordinator role.
Extensive knowledge of BS5975
Extensive knowledge of all aspects of temporary works
Experience of overseeing a broad range of different temporary works schemes.
Experience of construction / demolition / high hazard sites
Working knowledge of CDM Regulations
Ability to develop and implement company procedures
Strong leadership, planning, coordination, and management skills.
Ideally Experience in the Nuclear or Defense sector.
Currently hold SC or prepared to go through the SC process.
