As a result of our continued success and growth in the UK, were looking for full time Structural Engineers to join our team working on Nuclear New Build projects, specifically focusing on Nuclear Island buildings of Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and similar projects. You will enjoy reinforcing your technical skills when working on the most complex buildings of a Nuclear Power Plant, cultivating strong working relationships on a multi-culture environment to deliver outstanding results for our clients.
Job description
As a Structural Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, integrity, and reliability of the nuclear power plant structures. You will be responsible for various aspects of the design and structural analysis of reinforced concrete or steel structures.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and analyse reinforced concrete structures for the Nuclear Island Buildings of EPR nuclear power plants,Perform structural calculations and modelling using ANSYS APDL or similar advanced software and tools, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards such as Eurocode, ETC-C related to .Ensure the structural integrity and resilience of the reinforced concrete structures under various loads, including seismic, dynamic, impact of temporary works related to the construction sequence and environmental factors.Collaborate with detailing team including drafting team, BIM Coordinator and other designer engineers as well as the technical direction team to ensure coordination and integration of design requirements.Conduct calculations and structural assessments of design changes to determine the impact on the reinforced concrete structures and propose necessary design modifications.Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documentation for the reinforced concrete structures.Conduct structural assessments, and evaluations during construction and provide technical support as needed.Work closely with construction contractors and site teams to resolve any structural issues or challenges during the construction phase.Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and draftsmen involved in the structural design and detailing process.Collaborate with the client, construction team and the principal designer as well as regulatory bodies and authorities to ensure compliance with nuclear safety regulations and requirements.Produce designs following CDM regulations.Strong communication skills, independent working, presenting, and influencing skills.Stay updated with industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in nuclear structural engineering.Note: This job description provides a general overview of the responsibilities and requirements for the role of a Structural Engineer working on the Nuclear Island Buildings' reinforced concrete structures for EPR nuclear power plants. Profile
With a background of working in the nuclear industry or another highly heavy industry sector, youll have an established career in Civil Structural Engineering, with a MSc in Civil engineering or equivalent relevant subject. In addition, you'll also have:
Experience of Structural Civil Work, Civil Design, RC detailing, steels structures with ETT-C or Eurocodes or other relevant codesExperience working on the design and analysis of reinforced concrete structures for nuclear power plants, specifically with European Pressurized Reactors (EPR)Knowledge of nuclear safety principles, regulations, and standards governing the design and construction of nuclear power plant structuresProficiency in using structural analysis software, such as ANSYS, SAP, or similar toolsFamiliarity with Eurocode standards and EPR-specific design guidelines for nuclear structuresStrong understanding of seismic analysis and design principles for nuclear structures.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and regulatory authoritiesAbility to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlinesPrior experience in the design and construction of reinforced concrete structures in a nuclear or high-risk industry Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and quality control procedures related to nuclear structuresProfessional licensure or chartered status in Structural Engineering is advantageousExperience with on-site design support: working with contractors on site to deliver the implementation of engineering solutionsStrong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in nuclear engineering projectsExperience of 3D BIM modelling such as TEKLA, NavisworkPersonal attributes youll possess:
