Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Technology Services Lead Engineer as part of the Connect Plus Services (CPS) team based in Dartford.
To work within the Connect Plus Services Technology Maintenance Team maintaining & improving Area 5 Technology assets.
This role includes the supervising of the regionalised Technology Engineers and Technicians to carry out cyclic maintenance and fault/failure rectification activities on the following types of equipment CCTV, ERT, MIDAS, RCC, NTIS, HAWIS, Traffic Signal, Message sign and signal equipment in line with the National Highways and Technology Services quality plan ensuring the technology systems are maintained and repaired in accordance with the contractual requirements and timescales required.
What you'll be doing
Adhere to Zero Harm safety process at all times. Provide a customer focused/service/commercial approach to work. Responsible for Supervision of Technology Engineers and Technicians within the South and North Areas. Responsible for developing fault reduction strategies within each sector. Ensure systems are maintained and repaired within contractual requirements through efficient and effective working. Ensure NH Service Now data is captured and entered correctly and all data accurate. Attends faults, knockdowns etc. and carries out corrective maintenance including the reinstatement of sites, cable and equipment damaged by others. Responsible for repairs to modules and components ensuring these are completed within the contract time frame. Routinely liaises with the NH RCC and TOC. Attends meetings when required. Proficient in the maintenance and operation of all National Highways systems (hardware and software) within each Control Office. Responsibility for ensuring that all faults are repaired within Contract timescales during normal working day and monitoring this within area. Responsibility for ensuring all planned maintenance is carried out within Contract timescales and monitoring this. Manage the allocation of faults forwarded via Service Now to Technology Engineers assuring fault response times are achieved. Responsible for regional engineers NHSS 8 sector scheme portfolios to maintain CPS compliance under the scheme. Carries out fault rectification and maintenance duties within the contract response times. Responsible for responding to emergencies in line with emergency procedures. Provides technical liaison for third party faults. Manage the sub-contractors work on Traffic Signal systems and related equipment. Record and report any health and safety concerns to your line manager ASAP. Manage time and vehicle efficiently whilst on the network. Ensure all equipment is logged, stored and kept secure at all times. Responsibility of employers stores, ensuring all stock is booked in and out. Working arrangements
This is a field-based role with travel around the M25 network. We have offices in Dartford, South Mimms and Leatherhead and are flexible as to which office you are based out of.
The role is starting with either an 08:30 - 17:00 day shift or a night shift Monday to Friday, then will transition to a 4-on-4 off 12-hour shift pattern at a to be confirmed future date. This equates to 184 working shifts per year. The salary as detailed in this offer reflects the salary of the role under the proposed future shift pattern, inclusive of night and weekend working.
Who we're looking for
Qualified to HNC or B/TEC Higher National Certificate in electronics/ telecommunications engineering (or an agreed equivalent qualification), or 8 years experience working on Motorway communications or closely related systems. NHSS8 Certified Good knowledge of NH communications infrastructure and standards. Good knowledge of NH testing / ADAMr requirements. NMCS 2 Communications experience i.e. good all round technology experience e.g. MIDAS, CCTV, VMS, ERTs, NTIS, HAWIS, Traffic Signals etc. Good communication skills. Able to manage a subcontractor Experience of working with the NRTS Contractor Able to work in different areas of the network and be flexible on working approaches.
