Our client is a privately-owned civil engineering and groundworks company who are experiencing stable growth. As subcontractors to regional and national housebuilders including Bovis and Persimmon Homes, their projects are between £5-30m. With a strong order book secured, they are seeking a Trainee Estimator to join their growing commercial team.
Working alongside Senior Estimators, you will assist them to:
Review and understand incoming briefs and enquiries from clients.
Liaise with clients to understand project specific information.
Accurately measure and complete quantity take-offs.
Request and evaluate suppliers and sub-contractors’ quotations.
Compile cost documents to return to the client.
Work with Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers to review and refine estimates.
Price tenders and bid packages and put together required submission documents.
Maintain accurate records relating to estimates.
If you’re interested in this role, you’ll need to have:
Completed or working towards a HND or similar in a construction related topic
Completed or working towards a Quantity Surveying or Construction Management qualification.
Experience of working within the UK construction/groundworks industry would be helpful, but not essential.
Excellent attention to detail especially when working with costs and numbers.
Good communication skills both written, over the phone and in person.
A good understanding of Microsoft products including Excel, Word and Outlook.
An ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivation to be a team player.
