To be part of a team of Community Stewards operating within East Sussex, having responsibility for a specific geographic area within the county, being the point of contact for elected members and local parishes.
What you'll be doing
As a Highways Community Steward you will have the following accountabilities:
To undertake routine and reactive safety inspections of the highway. Ensuring inspections are completed in accordance with the relevant timeframes and standard. To identify and record defects, assessing risk, and raising applicable works orders. Recording all relevant information To manage enquiries, ensuring investigation & completion in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. Responding to customers in a professional manner To fully investigate claims made by 3rd parties for personal injury or damage to property. Ensuring all key information is collated, to support a robust defence Attend regular meetings with local councilors, residents, and other stakeholders, ensuring a professional & collaborative approach.
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
Previous Experience within Highways Inspections or Operations A working knowledge of Highways Maintenance standards/policies To undertake detailed inspections of the highway, recording all relevant information, and selecting appropriate remedial actions. Excellent Communication & Customer Service skills Ability to manage Customers expectations, in a polite and professional manner Good IT skills including word processing and recording information via a works management system Be flexible and agile to change as the role and service develops Good organisational skills.
